Frequently asked questions

The things people usually ask about the directory, the access score, adding places and privacy.

About the platform

What is this platform?

A directory of places in the UAE that are ready for people of determination. Every place carries an access score worked out from its actual facilities — entrances, restrooms, parking, visual and hearing guidance — not from a general impression. The point is to know before you go, rather than find out at the door.

Is it free to use?

Yes, entirely. Browsing, searching, adding places and the library are all free and need no subscription.

Where does the information come from?

Three sources: visitor contributions, place owners themselves, and open data from OpenStreetMap. Every place shows when it was last verified, and any visitor can confirm the information or report a mistake.

The access score

How is the access score calculated?

Each facility is weighted by how much difference it actually makes. A step-free entrance weighs more than a wheelchair-height table, because without it you cannot get in at all. The weights are grouped into seven areas: mobility, parking, restrooms, vision, hearing, sensory comfort and services.

Does a high score mean the place suits me?

Not necessarily. The score is general; your need is specific. Complete your access profile and we show a match percentage for your needs — a place scoring 70 may suit you better than one scoring 90.

I found something wrong — what do I do?

Press “report a problem” on the place page and it reaches the review team directly. If you visited and the information was right, press “confirm” instead — that updates the verification date and helps everyone who comes after you.

Adding a place

How do I add a place?

Use “add a place” at the top. You need a free account, then you fill in the details, tick the facilities that exist and upload photos of entrances and facilities. Submissions are reviewed before they go live.

I own the place — how do I manage its listing?

Create an account and say you are a place owner when you register. You will find “my places” in your account, and can edit details, photos, hours and social accounts at any time.

What kind of photos should I upload?

Photos of entrances, ramps, restrooms and parking matter far more than photos of the decor. A visitor wants to see the actual door and the actual ramp before deciding.

Account & privacy

Why do you ask about disability or need?

To rank results around what actually matters to you, and to work out the match percentage. The field is entirely optional, is never shown to anyone else, and you can delete it at any time from your account.

What is the access card?

A one-page summary of your needs and preferences that you show on arrival, instead of explaining yourself from scratch every time. It is built from your profile and can be printed or shown from your phone.

How do I delete my account?

From your account page, under privacy. Deletion is permanent. Places you added stay in the directory because they belong to its visitors rather than to your account, but they are detached from your name.

Still not answered?

Ask us directly, or try the assistant — it understands the question and suggests matching places.
